Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the championship lead from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind Norris, was classified in P17 as his team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, if briefly, when he spun at the fourth corner soon after starting.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before rotating through the gravel trap, and was blessed to escape with just a slight brush of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner before the final bend on to the main straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber in third, over half a second behind Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
